Ousted officer alleges prosecutor couldn't stand criticism
Lawsuit claims superiors conspired to drive him from his job of 23 years
Thursday, January 27, 2005
BY MATTHEW J. DOWLING Star-Ledger Staff
A detective sergeant fired from the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office in September has filed a lawsuit claiming he was
targeted for dismissal by his supervisors because they believed he criticized Prosecutor Wayne J. Forrest publicly when he
was up for reappointment in 2003.
Richard Myers filed the lawsuit in federal court last month alleging that top officers in the department spread lies about
his conduct, harassed him on the job and gave him undesirable assignments in an effort to drive him from the prosecutor's
office.
FIGHTING BACK
Chief Henderson has secured the law firm of Arseneault, Fassett & Mariano, LLP to represent him
against these false and retaliatory charges by the Somerset County Prosecutors Office.
An aggressive defense is being mounted and expect to see the "real" truth come out as the NPDF continues it's support
of Chief Henderson.
